Welcome Ahmed!
Ahmed was awarded a Master’s degree of Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery (2014) from Alexandria University (Egypt) where he worked on several research projects beside his work as an assistant lecturer of pharmaceutics. In 2018, Refaat accepted a scholarship to undertake a collaborative PhD project between Swinburne University and Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute (Australia). His PhD research focused on the use of NIR-responsive/fluorescent nanomaterials and activated platelet-targeting antibodies to develop novel targeted medicines and diagnostics for thrombosis under supervision of Prof. Karlheinz Peter and Prof. Simon Moulton.
He is joining Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS) as a postdoctoral research fellow to work in the field of brain delivery. The research project involves validation of a microfluidic blood brain barrier (BBB) organ-on-a-chip model through in vitro and in vivo methods. The project will involve design and characterization of brain drug delivery systems and diagnostics as well, under supervision of Prof. Nicolas Voelcker and Assoc. Prof. Joseph Nicolazzo.
