Welcome Lars!
Lars is a postdoctoral research fellow working in the field of brain cancer theranostics in collaboration with CSIRO and Monash Biomedical Imaging, where he combines porous silicon nanoparticles and medical radioisotopes to improve the diagnosis and treatment of brain cancer.
He has a background in nanomedicine and the development of polymer-based nanoparticles for applications in diagnostics (MRI and PET) and drug delivery. Lars carried out his PhD at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Melbourne in collaboration with UNSW and ANSTO. Previously, he completed a master’s and bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology in The Netherlands.
After his PhD he commenced a one-year postdoc at Monash University and CBNS on the development of star polymers for the treatment of cancer metastasis (together with Olivia-Newton John Cancer & Wellness Centre), leukaemia and lung cancer (Children’s Cancer Institute) before starting at CSIRO under supervision of Prof. Nico Voelcker.
