Welcome Mei
Meihua Luo, who used to be RA in MIPS, starts her first year of PhD program in November and will be working under the supervision of Tong. Her work will focus on establishing blood-brain-barrier penetrating nanoparticles for treatment of childhood glioblastoma. She is also working on a collaborative project with Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Jonathan Choi from CUHK will be her co-supervisor.
Meihua gained her bachelor Science Degree with the major of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science in Sun Yat-Sun University in China. In her junior year, she visited Pharmaceutical School of Pittsburgh University, the USA and carried out an HIV study of “Development and characterization of a vaginal gel and film containing dapivirine for prevention of HIV-1 sexual transmission” in Magee Women’s Research Institute under prof. Lisa Rohan’s supervision. Beside, she also explored her interest in pharmaceutics and medical chemistry and finished her undergraduate thesis of “Acid resistant Streptococcus Thermophilus Microcapsules with A Shell-matrix Structure Enhancing Storage Stability”. After graduation, she worked as a regular specialist and in-door translator in Shenzhen Techdow Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. in China and then visited Australia to explore the life.
