Nanosafety Workshop
The Nanosafety Workshop, which was organized by the Mawson Institute and the CERAR, was held during the 27th and 28th of April at Adelaide (University of South Australia). The workshop attracted more than 68 researchers and worldwide industry representatives, and covered the followed topics:
– Detection and characterization of nanomaterials
– Potential effects of nanoparticles to humans
– Potential effects of nanoparticles in the environment
– Social, industrial and regulatory aspects of nanomaterials
After each session there was a discussion panel to do a brain-storming on the current frontiers of nanotechnology and how to overcome those. Overall, it was agreed that further nanotechnology development clearly requires research able to address the human and environmental safety of nanomaterials.
